Mrs. Sunanda Mallik passed away in her sleep, on Feb 6th 2018, with her family by her side, in Chapel Hill, NC.

Mashima, as she is popularly known, spent the last few months with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and friends, recuperating and enjoying the final phase of her life. Her caring and gentle smile gave a lot of courage, hope and plenty of joyful memories to those close to her and she will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice in her loving memory.

We knew Mashima for only last few months but we felt that our friendship was there for ever it was because of Mashima. SUNANDADI, was not only our beautiful DIDI but a real lady in every sense . She was born in a very prestigious family of the then Bengal with an upbringing befitting a queen, a Queen indeed she was. Mithu , myself and our family are very fortunate to know her closely and personally.
