
Ruth McMillian Daniel, 95, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
A native of Alleghany County, daughter of the late Richard Bruce McMillian and Maude Shepard and wife of the late Dr. L. S. Daniel.
Ruth M. Daniel was a member of the Oxford Baptist Church, a graduate of Sparta High School and then attended Nursing School at the City Hospital of Winston Salem, where she met her husband of 75 years; moving to Oxford in 1946, she became a homemaker raising her family of 3 boys.
Surviving are her sons Sam Daniel, Jr of Oxford, Bruce (Rita) Daniel of Oxford and Bill Daniel of Greensboro; her sister Katherine Lessor of Brevard, NC and 2 grandchildren, Nick Daniel of Fayetteville, NC and Robert Daniel of Oxford, NC.
Graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 16, 2016 at 1:00pm at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery by Reverend Christopher Aho and Reverend Patrick Cox. Family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the Church following the service.
Memorials to be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project Foundation at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida, 32256.
Arrangements for the Daniel family are being handled by Gentry – Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford.
