I met Karen in 2008 at the Starbucks in Danville, Va. She struck me as such a beautiful and bright woman, and we talked for quite a while. She actually told me of a medical job opening at DRMC , and I got the job, and worked next to her in the Diagnostic Labcare, next to the Blood Donor Center. We saw each other almost every day for 5 years, and when I moved to Myrtle Beach, we still kept in touch. (Actually up until 3 weeks before she got sick) My heart aches and my soul screams with sadness upon her loss to us all!
Karen was truly, that honest, beautiful friend that you knew was real!
Rest in peace, sweet, beautiful, Karen- I miss you so much.

May Karen’s memory always be for a blessing. I enjoyed meeting her and talking to her on the “sidelines” at the contra dances and was saddened to hear she had taken ill earlier this year! She was too young and beautiful and full of life to have that have ended so soon.
Hugs to all her family and especially to my dear friend Ann and her beautiful daughters.
My profound sympathies and prayers to all.
Love,
Debra

Karen, I met you one evening back in the fall of 1994 and we talked all nite. Over time we fell in like with each other over the next ten years and some. You provided me a person I learned to confide in during a difficult time in my life as you did in me with the challenges you faced every day. For that I thank you. I felt blessed to know you. As time and travels evolved from the 1996 Olympics, visits to the Mtns, Lake Lure, the beach, long rides on the the scoot , renaissance festivals and when school became a big mission for you and we seen less of each other. I looked forward to when we could get together in Culawe and Sheppard for even the simplest of lunches or dinners. Our contests i.e. our annual cherry pit spitting contest I looked forward too come cherry season. You are still in the lead. I was so proud of your accomplishments post school and the new confidence within you that allowed you to move forward with life. I”ll miss the calls from you as you would update me on your kids milestones and accomplishments, new grand babies as well your family I was fortunate and allowed and grew to know. We left behind will always wonder why you had to battle the battles given you here on earth. I hope an pray you rest in peace an know we will be OK, As we celebrate your life later today with your family I sure a tear is in my future. Till we meet again I Loved You.
