
Jack Franklin Harrill, Sr., 83, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015. A native of Forest City, NC, Jack and his wife have resided in Durham for over 33 years. He was born June 18, 1932 to the late Robert C. Harrill and Margaret A. Bowen Harrill. He proudly served in the US Army for 21 years, serving two tours of duty each in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Jack taught ROTC at Presbyterian College and then worked as an insurance agent for United Insurance retiring in 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Durham, the Mayflower Society, Durham Civitan Club, Sports Club of Durham, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are: his wife, of 62 years, Willie Bradley Harrill of Durham; a son, Jack Harrill Jr of Kerr Lake; a daughter, Debi and husband Michael Vincent, Jr. of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Jack Harrill III, Joshua Thomas Harrill, Michael Vincent Jr. and Brandi Vincent Kingon; two great-grandchildren, Kyler Vincent and Declan Kingon; and a brother, Gene Harrill of Texas.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 414 Cleveland St., Durham. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham.
