Condolences for the family of “Jack Council”

Condolence from Tom Gullie on May 25th, 2008 12:00 am

I am very sorry to hear about Jack’s passing. He was my uncle, married to my father’s sister Colleen, Susan’s mother. I have fond memories of the laughter and closeness he and Susan shared. I thought of it often in raising my own daughter. He was funny, a big cut up and very kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Condolence from Tom & Pat Weaver on May 25th, 2008 12:00 am

Sorry to hear about Jack. He was a neighbor in the 50’s and Jack and Marie were good travel buddies on many trips to Atlantic City. He will be missed.

Condolence from Donna Barnes Minor on May 27th, 2008 12:00 am

My prayers and thoughts are with you. Jack and my Dad “Chubby” Jack Barnes worked together at The Herald Sun for over 30 years. I worked with him as well in advertising until he retired. He and his family were old family friend of my family. He will be missed.

Condolence from Robbie Bryant Burton on May 27th, 2008 12:00 am

Jack, Colleen, and Susan were our neighbors on Taylor St. It was a good neighborhood to live in. We cooked together, had beach trips together, laughed, and had so much fun. I was always invited to go with Susan on their beach trips, to Mr and Mrs Gullie’s, and Colleen’s sister, Linda’s in Cary, and to Jack’s home to visit Mr and Mrs Council and Cladie.

Condolence from Betty Hodges on May 27th, 2008 12:00 am

I want Jack’s family to know how much I regret I could not pay tribute to his life by attending the service for him but I have some health problems that limit what I can do.
Still, I want his family to know what fond memories I have from our days together at the Herald-Sun. He was a great guy and we both knew we worked at the H-S in the halcyon days when the paper was a wonderful instrument that had standing in the community. There was a camaraderie and joy working there and I will always remember Jack as a happy part of it.
