Hall-Wynne Funeral Service & Crematory, recently opened its own crematory and tribute center making it the only funeral company in the Chapel Hill and Durham areas to have a crematory on its premises.
A full-service funeral company, Hall-Wynne has been in operations since 1904. Cremation has always been an integral part of the services offered but the new crematory allows the company to handle the entire cremation process on site unlike other providers who outsource cremation. The adjacent tribute center allows family and friends a place to gather for a final viewing or committal ceremony.
As the preference for cremation has grown over the last few years and with cremation accounting for 30 percent of Hall-Wynne’s business, the need to have an on-site crematory was evident. At Hall-Wynne, cremation is performed individually. In general, it is a two to three hour process and can occur before or after a ceremony. Hall-Wynne is committed to the highest standards of practice carefully following a 10-step checklist for each cremation procedure to ensure proper identification, security and adherence to North Carolina laws and regulations.
“Because our crematory is on-site, a client’s loved one is always in our care which gives families peace of mind,” said Hall-Wynne President Mark Higgins. “Our goal is to enhance the services we offer while continuing to provide a variety of options to respect a family’s wishes and traditions.”
