I’m very sad to learn of Zoya’s passing. She was a member of a backgammon club I ran for several years. She loved backgammon, and her smile and laughter were a joy for the rest of us. I wish we had more like her at the club.

It should be noted that Zoya saved my life. At a backgammon club meeting in November of 2014 she asked me why I was limping. I explained that I had pulled a hamstring running sprints. Zoya asked what my doctor said. I explained that I hadn’t been to a doctor in years. Zoya then went into “nag” mode to explain the need for regular checkups. She shamed me into scheduling a checkup. That checkup led to the discovery of a tonsil tumor. Fortunately, it was discovered early and treated successfully … all thanks to Zoya … my angel.

I had the pleasure of working with Zoya during her clinical rotations. She had such a beautiful spirit and was so inspiring. And she had the best laugh. There is no doubt she will be missed. I am truly sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to Solmaz and Marzieh. Words cannot describe how much Zoya meant to me as a friend, loving soul, and always inspiring those around her. We met in college and never lost track of each other since. She taught my daughter drawing tricks and loved to tickle my youngest two daughters.
Her love for life was contagious and so was her laugh!!!!!
She will live forever in our hearts with her words of wisdom and her fierce spirit. We love you always dear Zoya❤️
