I am so very saddened by this news. Suzy was my friend, often a mentor to me, sometimes giving me her wise counsel, always patient and always kind.
I am now retired from UNC-CH SHS where I worked for many years with Suzy. I often thought how much fun she was having after her retirement. I know the loss to you, her family, can not be measured and I know why. She was a leader, a nurturer, a professional, an intellect and undoubtedly the pivotal force for her family. Please know that my thoughts are with all of you. I share your grief and I feel your loss.

Wonderful Todd Family–You guys hve no idea how bad we would like to be there to give u all big hugs, but know that your in our thoughts. We always thought of Suzie as “The Rock” of the Todd family as dealing with her through Dan’s illness, she was an amazing, strong, caring person. There is a little bit of Suzie in each of her children and grandchildren, so she will be with us always, not only in our hearts. Love and Hugs from Clayton, Judy and Blake.

I’ve been thinking about all of you so much. I am glad you are together. Susie was the kind of gal that made you smarter just to be around her. What great energy and interest and love she had for life and especially for you, the family. I will keep you all close to my heart because the loss is really hard to express. God Bless!

I lost my Dad in 2004 when he was just 71. My wife lost her Mom back in 1990 when her Mom was only 61. These occurrences confuse us. We feel cheated. What’s the reason? At my Dad’s memorial, I used my favorite line from “Waiting For Godot”: “I must go on. I can’t go on. I’ll go on.” It is what we have to do to honor those who’ve passed and to nurture those for whom we are responsible.
