Condolences for the family of “Sophia Pavlakis Livas”

Condolence from Tom Zitrides on December 14th, 2014 2:48 pm

My parents met the George and Sophie Livas during WWII when my parents were suddenly displaced from their birthplace in New Hampshire to North Carolina when my father enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor. The Livas family generously took my wandering parents into their home in Chapel Hill, and I was born at Duke University hospital soon thereafter. Sophie became my Godmother and lovingly fulfilled her duties throughout her life. My parents, Kay and Gus Zitrides, loved Sophie and her daughters as family and always recounted how kind and generous George and Sophie had been to them in the chaos generated by the war.

We will miss Sophie dearly. My sincerest sympathies and condolences to the Livas family.

I share in your sadness as I will miss the infectious joy Sophie brought to every concert and gala for The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. But most importantly I share your joy for her life lived to the fullest. We should all be blessed to go through life spreading such joy.
David Lindquist.

I will always hold such beautiful memories of Sophia, her joyfulness was very catchy. She was always so kind to my mother (Minerva) and I know how much they enjoyed each other’s company. I offer my condolences and that you always keep the wonderful memories you’ve made with her. May she rest in peace.

With Love and Prayers,
Ana
