Sidney Taylor Currin, 87 passed away on July 22, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. He was born December 21, 1925 in Granville Co. to the late Ralph Ansal and Mary Lee Hobgood Currin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Anne Pitts Currin and a sister, Sophie Currin Daniel.
Taylor was in the U. S. Marine Corp in WWII, Pacific Theatre. He graduated from N. C. State University in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, where he at one time served as a consulting engineer in Tunisia. He later retired from the N. C. Department of Environmental Resources and Land Quality. He was the former proprietor of Currin Engineering & Surveying.
Taylor served many communities in various capacities throughout his life, including volunteer firefighter, Boy Scout Leader and Church Trustee.
Memorial services will be conducted Friday July 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Banks United Methodist Church, by Rev. Gina Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the burial.
Surviving are, daughters, Patricia Gallagher and husband Joseph Gallagher and Cheryl Currin; three grandsons, Eric Jones, Ian Hilton and Brian Gallagher; one great granddaughter, Isabella Hilton; one sister, Eloise Currin Newton of Oxford; brother, David Douglas Currin of Monument Colorado.
