Shirley Strickland Long 75, died Friday September 19, 2014. A native of Granville County, she is the daughter of the late Willard L. and Irene Bullock Strickland. She is a former employee of Murdoch Center and Revlon.
She is a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working outdoors with her flowers, and being a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 23, 2014 at Gentry Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel in Oxford NC. Burial will be at South Granville Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her husband Gene A. Long, her daughter Debbie Andrick (George) of Stem, her sons Michael W. Oakes (Tana) of Stem, Randy Oakes (Phyllis) of Stem, her sister Marie Wilkerson (Danny) of Oxford, her brothers Vernon Strickland (Merle) of Stem, and Ricky Strickland (Sherry) of Durham. She is also survived by two grandchildren Angela Preddy (Clay) of Stem, Dylan Cottrell of Stem and two great grandchildren, Larah and Trenton Preddy of Stem.

Family will receive guests from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 23, 2014 at Gentry Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home and other times at the home of Michael Oakes, 4158 Old Rt 75, Stem, NC 27581.
