Samuel “Sam” William Daniel, Sr.

DURHAM-Samuel “Sam” William Daniel, Sr., age 74, died Saturday, February 06, 2016 at the Durham, VA Hospital. Sam was born in Wilmington to the late Samuel Matthew Daniel and Marian Small Daniel.

Sam was a barber for more than 50 years, at A-1 Hairstyle in Durham.

Sam is survived by his son, Samuel Daniel, Jr. and wife Mandy, of Durham; his step-son Ralph McBroom and wife, Casandra, of Hurdle Mills; his step-daughter Nancy McBroom of Hurdle Mills; his brother, Dr. Robert Daniel and wife Kathy of Tahlequah, OK; three grandchildren, Beverly Clark, Kevin McBroom and Franklin Moore; four great – grandchildren Griffin Clark, Addison Moore, Harper Moore and Thomas McBroom.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday, February 12, 2016 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Gray and Rev. Ansel Mullins officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Little River Presbyterian Church, Hurdle Mills.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham.

Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 3864 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27705.

    Sam and Norm were a great team. Sam will certainly be missed for his always positive and uplifting attitude with life. It has been my honor to know Sam as a friend as well as being my barber for 30 plus years. May he rest in peace.

    To the family of Sam Daniel, we offer our deepest condolences in your loss. We truly enjoyed Sam, Helen and Kathy when they came to Lake Gaston. They made us feel very welcome when we moved to the lake from Ohio. May God give you strength during this stressful time.

Precious memories is God)s everlasting gift to us when at a time like this lose a loved one.You were the best barber I ever had since you worked for “BLACKIES” on broad st and then A-1 with Norman Crumpler. Will miss you cutting my hair and your great personality.

    We are so sorry for your lose. Sam was my barber and friend for 30+ years. A true “Tar Heel”, always enjoyed talking ACC while he cut my hair. Kathryn and I will miss him as you all are, stay strong with his memory.

    Sam was a great friend, he had been my barber since he started in Blackie”s shop. He will be missed by all.
