Ronald John Schmid was born in Pensacola, Florida, and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Don Bosco high school and studied engineering at Marquette University. He worked for over thirty years in the machine tool industry. His career took him to Israel, where he met his wife, Ann, who was working at the time for the Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. The family lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, Connecticut, and Illinois, moving with Ron’s employment as a machinery sales manager. Following Ron’s retirement in 2009, he worked as school bus driver in St. Charles, Illinois. In 2015, Ron and Ann relocated from the Chicago suburbs to Durham, North Carolina.
Ron is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters Joanna Schmid, Amy Schmid, and Elizabeth Schmid; and three grandchildren.
