Robert Leonard Roberts, 86, of Pittsboro, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at his home.
Robert was the son of Almerdine Robbins Roberts and Archie Daniel Roberts, Sr. He was born December 5, 1921 in Harlan County, KY, and moved to Pittsboro with his family when he was a child. Robert served in the US Army in Africa, Italy, and France during World War I I. He retired from the US Postal Service. Robert was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church, Columbus Lodge #102 AF & AM, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Roberts-Knorr and husband Clark of Pittsboro; his son, Randy Roberts and wife Billie of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Dave W. Roberts
and wife Sara, of Pittsboro; his half-brother, Jim D. Haynes of Pittsboro; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Marguerite Kelly Roberts, preceded him
in death March 29, 2007.
The service to celebrate Mr. Roberts’ life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Pittsboro Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tripp Harmon presiding. Interment, with Masonic graveside rites, will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro.
