Raymond Wayne Elliott, 65, of Oxford, NC died Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was the son of the late Raymond H. Elliott and Mozelle Hill Elliott. He was born in Granville County and has resided in Oxford where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic with Ideal Fasteners for more than 42 years.
Wayne grew up on the family farm and became quite familiar with the meaning of “hard work” very early in his life. As an adult, it didn’t matter whether he was working the farm, hunting, tending to his cows and donkeys, or driving his tractor, he loved spending time in the outdoors. Of the many things that brought Wayne joy, nothing could compare to what he felt when his family was gathered together. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend, and everyone who knew him as such will tremendously miss him.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Teresa Elliott; daughters, Wendy “Winnie” Grissom and her husband, David, Chrissy Crute and her husband, Justin, and Tracy Boyd and her husband, Mark; grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Jaci, Hunter, and Bryce. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Tingen, Sandra Currin, and Betty Jean Cash; brothers, Robert Elliott, and Van Elliott, as well as so many other cherished family members and friends.
A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at The Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel, 503 College St., Oxford.
