Preston James Winslow

Posted By Hall-Wynne On May 19, 2012 @ 12:00 am In Obituaries | No Comments

Preston James Winslow, age 4, took his last breath before going to heaven on May 19, 2012, following a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Preston possessed a strength and perseverance for life. Despite difficult, painful treatments, he never complained and bravely cooperated with whatever he had to face. Preston’s courage led us and so many others to understand that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He loved playing with his trucks and trains, watching Justice League and football, painting, joking around, the color green, and especially his sisters. We will miss Preston dearly, and he will forever remain in our hearts.
Preston is survived by his loving parents, James and Celeste Winslow of Durham; sisters, Abigail and Stephanie Winslow; paternal grandparents Robert and Bonnie Winslow of Margate, Florida, and maternal grandparent Geri Ashley of Endicott, New York; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, doctors and nurses.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Friday at Noon from Immaculate Conception Church, with Fr. Larry Hayes, OFM presiding. The family will receive friends in church Friday from 10-Noon.
Gifts in Preston’s name will be distributed among Big Love, Meg’s Smile and Tim Tebow’s W15H c/o prestonsleague.com or any Wells Fargo branch, Acct. #1010128753985. Hall-Wynne is serving the Winslow family. On-line memorials: hallwynne.com. Select Obituaries.
We love you Preston, you’re the best!

Condolence from Susan Barker on May 22nd, 2012 12:00 am

I followed Preston’s progress through treatment praying always that he would be relieved of his pain and illness. Now he has been and while this was certainly not the manner I had in mind, I know that his family will be comforted by the many memories they shared with this brave and loving little boy, and by the knowledge that he is safe at home in Heaven, where he was doubtless welcomed by throngs of angels, cheering his inexplicable courage and perseverance. Hugs to my friend, Geri and to all of Preston’s family. You are all superheroes in my book.

Condolence from David Bower on May 25th, 2012 12:00 am

James and Celeste:

I’m writing after the funeral since I suspect there are many more tears that will be shed in the days to come. I don’t share the view of those who trivialize death by diminishing its seriousness. The Bible portrays death as an enemy 1 Cor 15: 26. But we have victory over it through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ 1 Cor 15: 55 – 57. So I hope that as you grieve, you will not grieve as those who have no hope I Thess 4: 13.
Your tender care of Preston will always be an inspiration. I wish that every child in the world had such devoted parents.

I didn’t get to know you very well on earth but I look forward to spending time with you in heaven!
