Patricia Farrell Jacques, 57, of NC Hwy. 902, Pittsboro, died Wednesday morning, March 16, 2011 at her home following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Pat was born in Lee County on January 8, 1954, a daughter of Maxine Cook Farrell and Roscoe M. Farrell, Sr. She was an active member of the Pittsboro/Chatham County community, being involved with Pittsboro Relay for Life, the Chatham County Council on Aging and Meals on Wheels. Pat was a member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed working with the Women’s Annual Bazaar. She was an avid baker, and especially enjoyed the chocolate bake-off. She loved people and had a genuine appreciation for helping others.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert “Robin” Jacques and their son, Rob. Also surviving are her father, Roscoe Farrell; sister, Janet Farrell; brother and sister-in-law, Roscoe and Teresa Farrell and their children, Megan and Cody. Bentley, Pat’s bulldog, also survives. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Farrell.

It was Pat’s desire for cremation with a private burial, with no visitation. Her instructions will be carried out by the family. She asked that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be directed to either the Chatham County Council on Aging, PO Box 715, Pittsboro, NC 27312; Pittsboro United Methodist Church, PO Box 716, Pittsboro, NC 27312; or to Pittsboro Relay for Life, PO Box 874, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

To the Farrell/Jacques family, my deepest sympathy goes out to you. Please allow me to share one of many funny stories from Pat. She was by the edge of her pool rocking back and forth as she talked to a friend who had stopped by for a visit. Rocking forward a bit too much she looked over to the friend and said “I’m going in.” I will so miss all that Pat brought to my life, and truly if LOVE could have kept her here, she would most assuredly still be here, Godspeed my friend…

I am at a loss for words, and I cannot really say much except for how much I appreciated Pat for her generosity and sense of humor. She has always been a good friend to everyone, always cheerful, ready to listen and lend a hand. She had a way of encouaging others and you always felt happy to see her. I will surely miss her.

These words express it best.

God looked around his garden
and found an empty space.
Then He looked down upon this earth
and saw Pat’s lovely face.
He put his arms around her
and lifted her to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best.

Robin, Rob & family- I am deeply sadden at the passing of Pat.She interviewed and hired me 9 years ago this month. I know we are never promised another tomorrow but Pat always lived her life to the fullest and trusted each day of her life to the Lord. I enjoyed the four years I worked under her and I will always appreciate the time I had to spend with her.The night my husband & I walked the Relay for Life with her was a hoot.Pat always had time to remember others with her Great Cooking consisting of her favorite receipes and one she gave me of Rob’s.She loved her family and would share special things with me about Megan & Cody. I could name a million things she did that would make me laugh that I ponder in my heart so when you have a down day remember those times she shared with each of you and hold on to them.Pat is in Heaven now & God has a new Guardian Angel that is watching over you.”Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always”

I learned of Pat’s death today, and the weather seems to echo my sadness that such a wonderful woman died so young. I worked with Pat at the School of Dentistry, and I will always remember her funny stories and constant smile; she made many of my days brighter. She also made my wedding cake – beautiful on its own, but all the more special because she put so much love and care into it.

Family was everything to Pat – she talked so proudly of you, Robin and Rob. I will pray for you both as you struggle through these difficult days.
