
HILLSBOROUGH – Otha Willis Evans, age 100, of Hillsborough passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home in Pittsboro. A native of Orange County, he was the son of the late John Lawson Evans and Fannie Elizabeth Evans.
Otha attended St. Mary’s School, Croft Business School, and many years in NC State’s continuing education classes. Otha was a retired electrical contractor and Orange County electrical inspector. In his later years after retirement, Otha traveled throughout many states, including a trip to Hawaii, and to Lake Erie on his 90th birthday. On Otha’s 92nd Birthday he was proud to have traveled with Carolyn and John to visit Kirk in Norway. He also spent time in Denmark and Holland.
Otha is survived by his daughters, Clara Vanderbilt of Durham; Barbara Hamilton (Robert) of Aberdeen; and Carolyn Hamilton (John) of Waynesboro, GA; his brother, Bratcher Evans of Hillsborough; his grandchildren, Robin Storch, Robert Dawson, Kim Vanderbilt-Fried, Thomas Hamilton, Kirk Hamilton, David Hamilton, Susan Hamilton and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Martin Warren Evans, grandchildren, Tina and John Hamilton and his great grandson, Joseph Dawson.
A graveside service will be held 1:00PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Bethesda Cemetery, Aberdeen with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00PM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
