Mr. William A. Cashin, Jr. entered into rest on November 2, 2024. Bill was born in Augusta, Georgia on October 10, 1933 to William Anthony Cashin, Sr. and Sarah Costello Mulherin from two old Irish families in Augusta. He graduated from Boys Catholic High and Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was President of Theta Chi Fraternity. He served as an officer in the Navy and spent most of his career in the control system industry with Westinghouse, Honeywell, Robertshaw and Barber Colman, retiring as president of Siebe Environmental Controls. He was a member of several local clubs including the Augusta Country Club, Downtown Kiwanis, Friends of the Library, Irish American Heritage Society, and the Symphony League.
Bill was an avid golfer, hunter, and outdoorsman, but his greatest hobby was his family. He is survived by his wife Jane and three sons, Gordon of Raleigh NC, Chris (Judi) of Chapel Hill NC and Jeff (Megan) of Raleigh NC, six grandchildren: Creel, Chan, Larkin, Jude, Cecelia and Luke, his brother Joseph E. Cashin (Camille) of Atlanta, and innumerable cousins. He was predeceased by his eldest son, William A. Cashin III in 1980. He was especially proud that all four sons, and all four grandsons, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12pm on November 16th at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church in Augusta Georgia, with Rev. Mark Ross as celebrant (livestream available at www.stmaryonthehill.org). The family will receive visitors at the church prior to the Mass starting at 11:15am. A reception will be held immediately after the mass at the church followed by the burial at Westover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary’s Church Foundation or a favorite charity.
