Durham, North Carolina – Susan Shipp Montsinger, 66, died at Duke Regional Hospital on April 18, 2021. She was born on April 21, 1954 to the late Nathan Wade Shipp and Bobbie Fuller Shipp.
She graduated from Durham High School and went on to attain her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She worked for Duke Regional Hospital for 40years where she retired.
Susan’s greatest joy in life has always been her family and Hockey. She loved nothing more than spoiling her children and grandchildren, followed by attending the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey games.
Susan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Homer Emanuel Montsinger III; her siblings, Kenneth Wade Shipp (and family) and Ellen Shipp Saleeby (and family); her children Homer “Monty” Emanuel Montsinger IV (Marlene) and Molly Montsinger Hamlett (Zak); and her adoring grandchildren, Homer Emanuel Montsinger V (8), Virginia Mae Hamlett (3), and James Wade Hamlett (3).
Immediate family will gather at Woodlawn Memorial Park for a Graveside Service; services are private.
Flowers are accepted, but donations may also be made to Durham Rescue Mission or Interfaith Food Shuttle.
