I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7
Susan T. Abraham (Shanthamma) peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, October 8th 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Kurian Abraham (Thampikunju), children, Dr. Dennis Abraham (Autum, the late Julie), Dr. Ronnie Abraham (Dr. Manuela Zamora), Dr. Ashley Chacko (Christopher) and grandchildren, Jude, and Nora, and the late Nicholas.
Susan was born in Koodal, India to a family of seven siblings. She studied Nursing in Bhilai, India and moved to the US in the early 1970s. She and Thampikunju first landed in New York, then settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where they lived for almost 40 years. She played an instrumental role in Thampikunju’s 37 successful years of dental practice as she worked side-by-side with him as an office manager. Their life together was filled with the adventures of business-owning, being active members of their church community, hosting family and friends, and tending to their plentiful vegetable garden.
Susan was the matriarch and anchor of the family who offered boundless energy and unrelenting support and love for her children, extended family, and community. She was a member of the Philadelphia Mar Thoma Church, then Ascension Mar Thoma Church, then ultimately the Durham Mar Thoma Congregation in retirement. Known for her hospitable, generous, and talkative nature, she sought to serve and uplift others whenever possible. She shared God’s love in practical, everyday ways and had a gift for sensing and meeting the needs of others.
Her loss will leave an immense void in our lives, but her impact and legacy are indelible. We have great hope in knowing Susan is with the Lord in eternity with her body, mind, and voice restored in beauty and wholeness.
The funeral arrangements are still being finalized for Susan and will be posted here as soon as they are confirmed.
