Shirley Mauer Maddry

Shirley Mauer Maddry, 89, died on November 15, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1936, to Irwin George Mauer and Gertrude Bailey Mauer.

She was a retired Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Research at UNC Systems. She retired in 1998.

She is survived by her husband, John Hocutt Maddry, Jr. of Chapel Hill; daughters Robin Maddry of Mebane, and Kelly Maddry Young (Randy) of Chapel Hill; granddaughters Emily Hill (Jon), and Sarah Walker (Matt) of Efland; and Alexa Young of Raleigh; and grandsons Jackson Hill, Cole Walker; and Harrison Young of New Haven, CT.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Orange United Methodist Church, with reception to follow.
