Sheri Finch Garnett

(Durham, NC) – Sheri Finch Garnett, age 67, died at Duke University Hospital on May 23, 2026. She was born on April 27, 1959 to the late Herbert Braxton Finch and Faye Faucette Finch.

Sheri was a graduate of Jordan High School and Durham Technical Community College with a degree in Practical Nursing. Sheri and Steven married in September, 1979. She worked as an LPN before becoming a homemaker for her family. Sheri was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in northern Durham where she was very involved in the children’s ministry, Women's ministry and Preschool ministry. Sheri loved her children and grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. She loved the lake, pool, beach, family vacations and vacations with her friends. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sheri Garnett is survived by her husband of 46 years Steven Blair Garnett Sr, their three children Steven Blair Garnett Jr (Jordan), Justin Blake Garnett (Alison), and Brittany Garnett Cook (Jake), five grandchildren (Ayda, Trip, Willa, Lilah, Kacey), mother (Faye Faucette Finch), brother Randall Finch (Lizabeth Finch), Nephew Randall Keith Finch (Brooke), Niece Kimberly Marion (Curtis), Aunt Judy Englebright, and extended family. Sheri was preceded in death by her father Herbert Braxton Finch.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May, 29 at 1:00pm at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, located at 1104 Milton Rd, Durham, NC 27712. Preceding the service will be visitation with the family at 12:00pm. Following the service, a committal service and burial will take place at Meadowview Memorial Park, located at 6163 US-15 Oxford, NC 27565.
