Nonie Vale

Durham – Nonilon Vale, age 72, died at UNC Healthcare in Hillsborough on Friday, July 31, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1953, to the late Amancio and Consuelo Vale. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and worked as a Police Officer in the Philippines.

He immigrated to the United States in 1984 and worked as a letter carrier at the United States Postal Service for 26 years.

He volunteered for countless years at his home parish: St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nutley, NJ; serving as an extraordinary minister and other ministries.

He actively served in the Missionary Families of Christ charismatic ministry: serving in various ministries as a music minister, and a leader for bereaved men across the United States.

He is survived by his loving wife, Belma Vale; sons, Nobel Vale and Wilbur Vale and wife, Michelle Dinh Vale; brothers, Amancio Vale, Jr. and wife, Andrea, Octavio Vale and wife, Iluminada, and Paquito Vale; sisters, Ellena Vale Ramos, Maria Fe Vale Bitara, Catalina Vale, and Rosalina Vale Penafor and husband, A lot Penafor.

In addition to his parents, Nonie was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Jim Ramos and Gaspar Bitara.

The family will greet friends during a time of viewing from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday, August 7th in the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St. Durham, NC 27701. A funeral mass for Nonie will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8th at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Dr. Durham, NC 27713. A private inurnment will take place in the church columbarium.
