Nicolas Jimenez, 86, died at his home on Saturday, April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 10, 1940, in Pampanga, Philippines to the late Valentine Jimenez and Magdalena Punsalang Jimenez.
Nicolas attended college at Pampanga College in the Philippines. As a young adult, Nicolas worked as a farmer in the Philippines. He ultimately found a love for cooking and once in the US he worked as a cook for many years at places like Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New York City. Nicolas enjoyed playing basketball, watching boxing and playing cards. He was beloved by his family and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Nicolas is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Herminia Jimenez; daughters, Victoria Cunanan and husband, Dante, Maria Salas and husband, Rogelio; son, Marlon Jimenez and wife, Nilda; grandchildren, Megan Rae, Jimenez, Dan Gabriel Cunanan, Dick Gerard Cunanan, Mary Veramia Cunanan, Karl Nio Salas, Sarah Terese Salas; and his sister, Bienvenida J. Cruz.
In addition to his parents, Nicolas was preceded in death by his brothers, Onofre Jimenez and Angel Jimenez.
The family will receive visitors during a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 17th in the west room of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St. Durham, NC 27701. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 20th at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Dr. Durham, NC 27713. Following the mass, Nicolas will be interred in the church columbarium.
