Mary Ann Morris

Mary Ann Morris, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Forest at Duke in Durham, NC. She and her family resided in Durham for nearly 70 years.

Born in Glen Cove, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Fadrowsky. Mary Ann is survived by her sons, James J. Morris, MD and his wife Marguerite, Brian Morris and his wife Amy; her grandchildren, Alexa Leigh Morris, Caitlin Elizabeth Morris, and Jameson Scott Morris.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Morris, Jr., MD and her son, Thomas Conway Morris.

For many years at various times in her life Mary Ann enjoyed working as a Registered Nurse at Duke Hospital. With a soft spot for those facing challenges, she engaged in several volunteer activities focused on the health and well-being, including the Nearly New Shoppe, the American Heart Association, the Duke Children’s Golf Classic since it’s inception, and reading books to children attending Kent Street Elementary School.

Mary Ann and her husband partnered in playing golf and bridge, traveling, and avidly supporting Duke basketball and football over the years. Her feistiness and spirited dancing were appreciated by many, particularly her family and especially her grandchildren. Her most favored past time was swimming at the beach at Emerald Isle.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately by her family.
