Dr. Lloyd Franklin Redick died on November 12, 2025. He was born in Hancock County, Ohio December 21, 1932, and raised on a farm just outside Jenera, Ohio. After graduation from Cory-Rawson High School, he was awarded a bachelor's degree and MD from the Ohio State University. After interning at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, he served in the U.S. Navy in Detroit. He completed his residency in anesthesia at The National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, and he served at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois.

On leaving the Navy, he joined the faculty of the University of Kentucky. In 1974, he joined the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Duke University Medical Center. He was awarded certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 1966. He was a member of numerous medical societies, and served as president of the Society for Obstetrics, Anesthesiology, and Perinatology in 1992-1993. On retirement, he was given status of Professor Emeritus of Anesthesiology and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His proudest awards were the Teacher of the Year by both the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Redick married Anne Stiff in June 1954, who was his best friend, confidant, and supporter in mental and moral health. In November 2007, they moved to the Forest at Duke CCRC. They were together in a loving and supportive marriage for 62 years, until Anne's passing in 2016. Together they raised five children: Karen Hale (Michael) of Sarasota, Florida, Kathryn Young (Donald), Thomas Redick (Katie) and John Redick (Ann) of Durham, and Daniel Redick (Dawn) of Cary, NC. There are ten grandchildren: Andrew Hale, Laura Palkovitz (Ian), Sarah Manson (John), Matthew Hale (Esther), Samuel Young (Laura), Paul Young, Margaret Redick, Emmeline Redick, Conner Redick, Lily Redick, and six great-grandchildren.

Dr. Redick was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1974 and served in numerous capacities for the congregation.

Memorial services will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Durham NC, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:30 PM. Hall-Wynne in Durham, NC is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dr. Redick may be made to the Saints in Grace Fund of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (824 N. Buchanan Blvd, Durham, NC,27701) or The Forest at Duke Benevolent Fund (2701 Pickett Rd, Durham, NC, 27705).
