Jacksonville, NC

Kit Hart, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, after a courageous nearly four-year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born on August 25, 1955 in Oakland, California, Kit lived a life marked by service and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years, including service as a combat photographer. His military career reflected his dedication, discipline, and unique ability to capture history through the lens of a camera.

A devoted follower of Christ, Kit was a faithful member of The Potter's House for many years. He was deeply committed to the church's mission and worked tirelessly to help grow and develop its Bible college. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he found great purpose in serving God, mentoring others, and helping strengthen the next generation of believers.

Above all else, Kit cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lita; his children, Whitney (Alex) Bouknight and Kyle (Emmalee) Hart; his five beloved granddaughters, Lucy, Amelia, Ophelia, Charlotte, and Penelope, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy; and his sisters, Cheryl and Wendy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Krumly and Betty Hart. His love, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Though Multiple Myeloma ultimately claimed his life, it never diminished his strength, resilience, or the love he shared with those around him. His legacy of service and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held at the Potter's House on Friday,June 26th at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the SECU Caring House of Durham in his memory.
