Kathie S. Ashkenes

Kathie S. Ashkenes passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 73. She is survived by her devoted children, Alex Ashkenes and his wife Carrie Lyle, Sada Jones and her husband Dustin Jones; loving brother, Jim Rishel and his wife, Barbara Rishel; and cherished grandchildren, Olive Ashkenes, Ivy Ashkenes, and Skyla Jones.

Kathie was preceded in death by her husband, Michael B. Ashkenes; her parents, William Rishel and Ethel Rishel; and her brother, Bob Rishel. Kathie loved and was loved by everyone.

A service celebrating Kathie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 27th in the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham, NC 27701. Kathie will be interred beside her husband, Michael, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Maryland, at a later date.
