On Thursday, July 24, 2025, June ChangJa Min passed away from a brief illness. In her last few days, she was surrounded by family members and passed away peacefully. She lived her life independently until the very end.
June was born in Hamheung, Korea on June 26, 1941 and moved to Seoul with her family in 1945. After graduating from Gyeonggi High School and Ewha Womans University, she worked for an international charity called Compassion, and then moved to the United States in 1967 to marry her husband, Han Ki Min. Together, they had two children, John and James.
June was a person of many gifts and talents. She became an entrepreneur by owning a floral shop for many years. She was seen as kind and gracious by everyone who met her. She lived a frugal life herself but gave generously to those whom she loved. Her greatest joy was raising her two sons and watching their journeys and successes, much of their successes from the lessons of her and her husband. She was a constant presence in her grandsons’ lives and cherished her time with them. At 84 years old, as she continued to enjoy living independently, she also enjoyed close friends from church and far away, and family time.
She is survived by her sons John (Sherene) and James, her grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander, her brother Kyu-Tae Chun, and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Han Ki Min and her brother Kwang-Tae June.
Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her home church, Triangle Grace Church. 5001 Tudor Place, Durham, NC. 27713.
