CHAPEL HILL- Jennifer Lynn Wesson, born on October 14, 1970 in San Bernardino, California, Jennifer was a loving and vibrant presence in the lives of everyone she touched. She was the daughter of Dexter Wesson and Patricia Blaskowski and is survived by her Mother, her sister Victoria Wesson, her niece Milissa Wesson-Korn, and her beloved cats Ollie and Marsha. Predeceased by her father, Dexter Wesson, her stepfather Dennis Blaskowski, and her grandparents.
Jennifer was a global implementation research scientist who worked with a variety of international non-governmental organizations focusing on HIV, Integrated Health, and family planning in more than 20 countries. She achieved her B.A. in International Affairs and Women’s Studies at the University of Minnesota, her M.P.A. at Columbia University, and her PhD. in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Jennifer travelled the world for work and fun, including extended professional assignments in South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. She showered loving attention on her dear friends including Christopher Medalis, Boyan Konstantinov, Aron Pilhofer, Liz Swanson, Tara Nutley, Kristen Kucera, Theresa Hoke, and Donna McCarraher. Her dedication to her work, her family, and her friends inspired and uplifted countless individuals. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor, amazing dinner parties, brilliant conversational skills, and the joy she brought to those around her.
A celebration of her life will be held in both North Carolina in October and in Minnesota in June.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cat Tales Rescue NC in her memory.
Jennifer’s legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
