CHAPEL HILL, NC – Jeanette “Jeanne” Weston, 95, died March 2nd, 2026 at Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. She was the daughter of the late Reuben and Mary Vier. In addition to her parents, Jeanne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard Weston; sister, Marguerite “Margee” Richardson; brother, Reverend Lester Vier; and grandson, Porter Weston.
Jeanne was devoted to her late husband and to her children, Rick, Brent, and Laura. She had many friends from all phases of her life, including decades in Illinois, Michigan, New York, and North Carolina. From 1992 to 2016, she was an active and lively part of the Treyburn community in Durham, NC, where she and Richard settled after his retirement.
Jeanne was a wonderful and accomplished musician, singing and playing piano for family, friends, and countless events over her lifetime. She sang solos in many church services in the Detroit area. She also enjoyed opera, musical theatre, and ballet. She was an avid yoga practitioner and instructor well into her 80s. Jeanne read extensively and loved to discuss books and current events with her friends. She combined these interests with a vibrant and diverse social life that kept her very active, enthusiastic, and well-loved for many years.
Mrs. Weston is survived by her sons, Richard Sterling Weston and Brent William Weston; her daughter, Laura Jeanette Weston; her grandchildren, Sterling, Emma, Robert, and James Weston and Kelsey, Keilani, and Kyler Sakumoto; her great-grandchildren, Alina, Sona, Theo, and Isabelle Weston; and her sisters, Emma “Lou” Mouser and Elizabeth “Liz” Hurst.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in Jeanette's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
