Jay Brian Williamson

July 12, 1964 — February 18, 2026

Durham

(DURHAM) – Jay Brian Williamson, age 61, died in his home on February 18, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1964, to Ann Williamson and the late David Williamson.

Jay graduated from Northern High School in 1982. He enjoyed music from childhood on into adulthood. Whether he was singing in musicals at Homestead Heights Baptist Church, playing guitar with friends, or playing trumpet with his high school band, music made him happy. As an adult, he played guitar and sang in Ellerbe Creek Band with his friends at a variety of events.

Jay worked as a Convenience Store Manager serving the Durham community over the years while making many friends along the way. Jay learned from his parents the value of hard work and the importance of enjoying himself no matter the type of work he did. He started working at the young age of 12, cutting grass for his neighbors and relatives, selling blackberries he picked in the woods, and taking care of animals at the local vet.

When Jay wasn’t working, he loved camping with friends and family, laughing around the campfire, enjoying nature, and fishing.

Jay is survived by his wife, Lynn Williamson; mother, Ann Williamson, sister, Tina Williamson; his wife’s brother, Joey Boone (wife, Patty and children, Cameron and Jolee), his uncle, Warren Watkins; cousins, Jimmy Watkins, Teresa Brown and all of their children.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, David Williamson; aunt, Nancy Watkins, and his wife’s late brothers, Jimmy Boone (wife, Jamie and niece, Chloe), and Jay Wilson (wife, Jennifer and children, Noah, Jacob, and Jenna). Jay was a loving uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.
