George Howell Batts

George “Sonny” Batts, age 78 of Sandy Level, VA, died Tuesday, December 2, 2021, at his residence.

Born June 16, 1943, in Durham, NC he was a son of the late Ollie Britton Batts and Edna Walters Batts. He was predeceased by one brother, Larry Batts and one sister, Barbara. Sonny was a Navy veteran and retired from IBM. He enjoyed building and working on hot rods.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy High Batts of the residence; one daughter, Jennifer Bunting of Garner, NC; two sisters, Candace Sherd (David) of Indiana and Edna Earle Guikema (Phil) of Florida; and two grandchildren, Faye Lopez, and Anderson Bunting.

A celebration of life will be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service Chapel, Durham, NC on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11 AM.
