Florinda Silvia Sheahan

Florinda Silvia Sheahan (Marcelli), age 65, of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Duke Medical Center after a long and courageous health battle.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 2, 1960 to the late Elpidio and Lucia Marcelli, she also lived in Pike Creek, Delaware; Geneva, Illinois; Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania; and retired to Wilmington, North Carolina. Florinda was a radiology assistant and clinical administrative assistant, but most of all, she was a dedicated homemaker to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael J. Sheahan; son, Christopher M. Sheahan (wife Tara E.); daughter, Tara A. Sheahan; two grandchildren, Jane and Jude Sheahan; sister, Linda T. Pierce (husband Donald); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones. Loved by all, she will be greatly missed.

Florinda’s life revolved around her love for her family. She was an exceptionally proud wife, mother, and grandmother. Through her health struggles, Florinda’s courage was not loud or dramatic – it was steady and present. With incredible courage, Florinda faced each day with grace, even when fear was close by. She was not without fear – that’s what made her brave. Florinda taught those around her to choose hope, to love, laugh, and live.

Florinda was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan who loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband, Michael, enjoyed gardening and exploring nearby towns and cities.

The Sheahan family would like to thank all of Florinda’s family and friends as well as her doctors and nurses at Duke Medical Center and Davita Wilmington Dialysis Center for all of their love, prayers, and support.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 901 North Dupont Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with a reception luncheon to follow (all are invited to join the family).
