DURHAM, NC - David Andrew Pendergrass passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 33 in Durham, NC.
David was born in Durham, NC, on January 2, 1993. After graduation from Riverside High School, David obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from North Carolina Central University.
David is predeceased by his father, John Pendergrass, whose memory he held very close to his heart. He is survived by his mother, Jane Pendergrass; his brother, Michael Pendergrass; his aunt Mary and uncle Walt Sochacki, aunt Carol and uncle Bob Wheeless; and his cousins, Mary "Mimi" Sochaki, Luke Wheeless, and John Wheeless. In addition, he is survived by many other aunts, uncles, and cousins in other states on his mothers side.
Known as "D-Dot Pendo", David was a music producer and audio engineer whose work spanned many genres. He also created his own music, using sound to express himself and connect with others. Music was central to David's life, and his creative legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
David was the kind of person who always answered the phone when you needed someone. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. If he said he would do something for you, he meant it. Over time, most friendships are tested, and unfortunately, the bonds are broken. David was the opposite; over time you realized that he was one of the rare people in life whom you could call a true friend, which was a direct reflection of his character. His kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone he met and left a lasting impression.
David will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. May his kindness and music continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him.
He will be laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC; scheduling pending.
In memory of David, please keep music close to your heart and donate to any charitable cause of your choice.
