Danny Leon Strange

April 20, 1950 — June 8, 2025

Durham, NC

Durham, NC. Danny Leon Strange died at home on June 8, 2025. He was born on April 20, 1950 to the late Jackie A. Strange and Zach Leon (ZL) Strange.

He moved from Statesboro, GA to Atlanta in 1963. After graduating from Briarcliff High School he attended GA State University for two years. After a stint with the USPS he worked for Micro Information Systems, Inc (MISI) for six years, managing all aspects of producing microfilm reader-printers. His fascination with the dry air and open skies of Arizona motivated his move to Phoenix in 1979. A life-long batchelor, he was devoted to his love of family, kitties, the great outdoors, all things sci-fi, and music. His career culminated with being named employee-of-the-year for Westaff while he was assigned to American Express Operations. He received many acknowledgements as a “star performer” from his co-workers for his diligence, good attitude, neatness, and competence.

In 2002, Danny moved back to the east coast to spend more time with his mother, brother and sister-in-law. During his time in Arlington, VA, taking advantage of his organizational skills, Danny catalogued and documented the life-long accumulation of processional papers and books for a person who specialized in the field of US-Soviet comparative strategies and interaction; national and international security policies, strategic analyses of political/economic/military factors; missile and civil defense analyses; and impacts of strategic and tactical nuclear weapons. These materials now reside at the Hoover Institution’s archives in Stanford, CA. and the National Defense University at Ft. McNair, Washington, DC.

In his later years Danny helped his mother move and acclimate to her new life at a retirement community in Chatham, Co., NC. Danny is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Meredith Strange, Chapel Hill, NC and cousins in SC and GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie A. and Z. L. Strange.
