DURHAM, NC – Charles Bernard Whitfield, age 91, died in Durham, NC on October 30, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1935 to the late Grover and Lora Whitfield.
Charles graduated from Durham High School and enlisted in the Air Force after graduation. After leaving the service, he spent most of his adult life in the food service and hospitality industry in Detroit before returning to Durham for the remainder of his life.
Charles was always the life of the party and found much pleasure traveling with friends to play cribbage. He attended Guess Road Baptist Church.
Charles, a confirmed bachelor, is survived by his sister Sue Whitfield Stone of Pilot Mountain, NC, her children, and their families. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Charles will be laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC.
