Carlos Abramowsky

Durham – Carlos Abramowsky age 83, died at Duke Hospital on 10th of February 2026. He was born on November 16th 1942, in Panama City, Panama, to the late Leopold Abramowsky and Gladys Schaw.

Carlos earned his bachelor’s degree then medical degree at the University of Panama in 1968 then continued to complete residency and fellowship training as a pediatric pathologist at the University of Boston and Duke University. Carlos retired after a long and very successful career at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Upon retirement, Carlos and his wife Lisa settled in Durham, NC where they enjoyed the NC Symphony, opera, walking in parks ,and visitingwith neighbors, friends, and family.

Carlos Abramowsky is survived by his wife Lisa Goldman, children Mark Abramowsky, Gretel Guest (Greg), Ariela Eisenbach (Yoni), Michael Abramowsky (Shulamis), Andrea Fishman, and Eric Fishman (Jennifer). Grandchildren Hunter, Aaron, Alex, Avery, Avner, Raffi, Tova, Emanuel, Shimon, Temina, Zahava, and Hadassah.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlos’s memory may be made to: Duke Cancer Institute, American Heart Association, Blood Cancer United, or a charity of your choice.

The Abramowsky/Goldman family is under the care of Hall-Wynn Funeral Service.
