Wilma Carpenter Roberts

Wilma Carpenter Roberts, age 89, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital. Wilma was born on August 29, 1919 to the late Luther N and Susie Beam Carpenter. Wilma worked for more than 30 years at General Telephone now Verizon, and for many years as a voluneer interpreter at the Bennett Place Historic Site in Durham. Wilma is survived by her loving and devoted companion, Paul P. Williams of Durham; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Wilma and Paul were together more than 60 years and for many of those years, one was not seen without the other. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2009 in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 3, with the Reverend Clarence Parrish presiding. Friends may visit prior to the service on Monday from 9:30-10:45 AM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
