Virginia Sue ???Ginny Sue??? DeRosa Barnhill Fergus, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 after a hospitalization at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. Ginny Sue was born oneebruary 8, 1944 in Elizabeth City, Virginia. Ginny Sue is the oldest daughter of Ruby Griffin and Samuel DeRosa. Ruby remarried Marion Francis Barnhill, Sr. and Samuel DeRosa remarried Dolores Norris DeRosa. Ginny Sue graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1962. She worked as a telephone operator in Raleigh, NC and as a business owner ineennsylvania. However, her true vocation was as a wife and mother. Ginny Sue???s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many others adopted her as their ???mother??? or ???grandmother???. Ginny Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Ivon Eldridge Fergus, Jr. She and Ivon had ten children: Cheryl Denae ???Dee??? (Mark) Wall, deceased; Marian Frances Fergus; Ivon Eldridge ???Trey??? Fergus, III; Sean Clark (Anee) Fergus; Robert Curtis (Franee) Fergus; Rex Cameron (Dolly) Fergus; Dane Garrett Fergus; Ryan Drew (Magie) Fergus; Virginia Sue ???Ginna??? Fergus; and Celeste Sheri (David) Knight. She has eighteen grandchildren including Vernon (Ashley) Wall, Mark Taylor Wall, Emily Wall (Mark) Wright, Rachel Wall, Carson Wall, Hubert Fergus, Ivoneergus, Jordaneergus, Christopher Fergus, Selena Fergus, Brianna Fergus, Wendy Fergus, R. Drew Fergus, Jr., George Fergus, Henry Fergus, Dane Knight, Daisy Knight, aneelaina Knight. She has four great-grandchildren: Hazel Wall, Liza Wall, Kaylee Wright, and Jaxon Wright. Ginny Sue is the oldest of seven children on Ruby???s side: Mary Ella Barnhill (deceased), Elizabeth Ann Barnhill, Marion Francis (Karen) Barnhill, Jr., Sarah Jane Barnhill, John Edward (LaDonna) Barnhill, and Tammy Grace (Joe) Naylor. She is the oldest of seven children on Samuel???s side: Joseph Michael DeRosa (deceased), Robert Guy DeRosa (deceased), Karen Faye DeRosa Bullock, Mary AnneeRosa, Barbara Elizabeth DeRosa Mincey, Laura AnneeRosa. She also was blessed many nieces, nephews, cousins aneextended family members. Ginny Sue enjoyed spending time at the beach, listening to a wide variety of music from many genres including the 40???s, Freddie Mercury with Queen to Celtic Woman, watching movies, cooking and most of all laughing. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation is scheduled for Friday June 3 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, and another short visitation prior to service on June 4th at 10:00 - 10:45 AM with services scheduled at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3902 Berini Dr., Durham, NC 27705. The burial will follow at 5:00 PM at the LDS Cemetery in Hampstead, NC. Flowers canee sent to the Hall-Wynne Funeral Home located at 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
