OXFORD: Troy Eugene Sanders age 78, passed away oneednesday, October 8, 2014.?? He was born on April 17, 1936 in Hartwell, GA to the late Troy P. Sanders and Kathryn Schultz Sanders.?? His family moved to High Point when Troy was young.?? He graduated from Jamestown High School in the class of 1955.?? Troy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attended High Point College, worked in the Sanders Upholstery Company in High Point, NC and was retired from the N.C. State Highway Patrol stationed in Oxford.?? He was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon and on the men???s suppers and stew committee. He was also a member of Oxford Masonic Lodge #122, York Rite Bodies, Shriner???s Sudaneemple, New Bern, NC, and The Granville County Shrine Club, AMD, Order of the Eastern Star, Oxford 94, served as worthy patron and the Capital District Deputy Grand Patron 10th District.?? He was past president of the Oxford Farmers Market, and he serviced the State Employment???s Credit ATMs and security. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 12, 2014 from Oxford Presbyterian Church by Rev. Alan Koenee.?? Graveside service will follow on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Floral Gardeneemorial Park, High Point, NC with military honors. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Betsy Wall Sanders; his sister, Virginia ???Jenee??? Sanders Thornton (John) of High Point; nieces and nephews, Johnny, David and Sandy Thornton, Jimmy, and Cliff Sanders, Kathy Decker, Fred Walker, Dolan Tucker and his Godchild Jordan Dixon of Indianapolis, Indiana.?? He is predeceased by a brother; James H. Sanders; sisters, Glenna Sanders Walker, Joyce Sanders Tucker, and Bobbie Sanders. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the Church prior to the service.?? The body will lie in state from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC.
