Ruenell Mangum Oakley

ROUGEMONT: Ruenell Mangum Oakley, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt was called home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of September 12, 2007. Born August 23, 1945, she was the youngest daughter ofS. Tommie and Grace Pruitt Mangum, and a native of Granville County graduating from Berea High School and Fuller's Business School of Oxford. She was a resident of 544 Highway 158. To those who were blessed to have her touch their lives, Ruenell was a loyal friend whose strong will, sense of humor, and faith in God were an inspiration. Throughout her adult life she bravely faced many health struggles and neer lost her faith or her sense of humor. Ruenell had a long career with the Granville County Schools System as a bookkeeper. She beganeer tenee at the Berea Elementary School and served there until the school was closed at which time she traneerred to the D. N. Hix School. In later years she moved to J.F. Webb High School before traneerring to Mary Potter Intermediate School serving there until her retirement after 31 years of service. Ruenell always served with integrity and was faithful to the tasks set before her. She gave her life to Christ many years ago and was a lifelong member of Trinity Uneed Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary in addition to various committees. Ruenell was an active member of the Uneed Methodist Womeneerving as secretary aneenjoyed assisting with the mission projects of the Society. It was Ruenell's joy to reach out to help others. Ruenellleaves behind her husband of 43 years, Talmadge R. Oakley, a daughter Tammy O. Slaughter, a son Tommy R. Oakley Christie, a sister Eunee M. Wilkins Renee, granddaughters Maranda K. Slaughter and Savannah R. Oakley, grandson Joshua L. Slaughter, nieces Bonita W. Tingeneeff and Donna Wilkins-Preddy John. She also leaves three great-nieces, a great-nephew, and a host of sisters and brothers- in-law and other family members. The Reverends Stewart Crank and Rusty Ford will conduct funeral services Friday morning at 11 :00 a.m. at Trinity Uneed Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 at the Gentry
