Robert Higgins Gurney

Robert Higgins Gurney, 89, of Galloway Ridge at Fearrington, Pittsboro, died August 19, 2008 at UNC Hospital. Mr. Gurney was born in Hartford, CT, on neember 8, 1918, the son of Wilson Gurney and Lillian Connelly Gurney. He was a graduate of Colgate Uneersity, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. Mr. Gurney worked for Harper & Row Publishers ineew York and Chicago as a sales representative for 38 years. He enjoyed reading, golf and traveling. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Virginia Fowler Gurney; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Pat Gurney of Enka, NC, Lloyd and Nancy Gurney of Hailey, Idaho; and a grandson, Lee Gurney of Portland, Oregon.
