Ralph Nofsinger, Sr.

Ralph Nofsinger, Sr. age 86, passed away Monday, neember 23, 2015 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham. Ralph was born ineerrin, Illinois October 27, 1929 to the late Dallas Nofsinger aneetha Lawson Nofsinger. Ralph served in the Marine Corps and was a graduate of Southern Illinois Uneersity. He spent his career at State Farm Insurance Company where he was head of the accounting department at the Easterneegional Office ineennsylvania. He and his wife raised their family ineest Chester PA. Ralph was an accomplished athlete who shared his love of sport with his three children. He lettered in four sports in high school, played on the Marine Camp Lejeune basketball team and played baseball for Southern Illinois Uneersity. Ralph was active in golf leagues most of his adult life and was competitive in handball. Ralph was generous with his time aneenergy and coached Little League baseball and voluneered with Red Cross blood drives and chaired multiple Uneed Way campaigns. To all who knew him he was the ultimate geneeman who had a playful sense of humor. His kineess and welcoming smile will be missed. Ralph is survived by his wife, June Nofsinger; his son, Ralph Nofsinger, Jr.; his daughters, Becky Smedley and husband, Jim; and Jeanne neent and husband John; his brother, Donald Nofsinger and wife, Shirley; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Rachel, Zach, Victoria; and his great grandchildren, Jake, Ben, Leah, Anna, Aiden and Tyler. He was preceded ineeath by his great grandson, Joshua Smedley and siblings Dallas Jr., George, Maezel, Kenneth, and Maxine. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Wednesday, neember 25, 2015 in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to the CJ Foundation for SIDS.
