Mr. Luther Carlton "Pete" Mann, 77, of Fairview Church Road in Trinity and formerly of Pittsboro, died January 8, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Mann was born in Chatham County on May 10, 1935, the son of Joseph Carlton Mann & Paulineellis Mann. He was a tank operator ineermany while serving his country in the US Army for two years. An outdoorsman, Pete enjoyed playing golf, church softball, & salt water fishing, particularly at the Outer Banks. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather & brother, Pete was a fan of the Carolina Tarheels & Atlanta Braves. He retired from KAO Corporation where he was employed as a textile chemist. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Gail Burge Mann; sons & daughters-in-law, Karl & Shayne Mann of Pittsboro, Christopher & Karen Mann, of Trinity; step-daughter & son-in-law, Dena & Charlie Brown of Mebane; grandchildren, Dustin, Chad & Molly Mann; Joseph & Rebekah Mann, & Bella Brown; a sister, Linda Cooper & husband Leonard of Pittsboro; nephews Scott & Tracy Cooper; sister-in-law Carlene Burge; and a brother & sister-in-law, Don & Aneea Hyde. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mann was preceded ineeath by his brother-in-law, Joe Burge. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013 from the graveside at Mount Pleasant Uneed Methodist Church cemetery in Pittsboro, with Pastor Jim Jones presiding. The family will receive friends at Hall Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Saturday. Online condolences may be left at www.hallwynne.com, select "Obits".
