Oxford: Mildred Huff Dixon, 90, of Oxford, North Carolina, daughter of the late Bernee Daniel Huff and the late Lilllie Toney Huff and beloved wife and best friend of the late Otis Jefferson Dixon for 72 years, passed away on July 16, 2015, surrounded by the ones she laughed with, lived for and loved. Mildred was a mother, homemaker, farmer and lifetime member of Trinity Uneed Methodist Church. Much of her life she was a caregiver to her beloved Otis. Mildred cherished the moments she spent with family and friends. Mildred is survived by her daughter, LaVerne Dixon Pope, and her husband, Phil Pope, of Oxford, North Carolina; her grandchildreneeather Pope Turner and her husband, Scott Turner, of Montclair, Virginia and April Pope Cannady of Clinton, North Carolina; and her great-grandchildren Chaneer Fryer, Carlon Cannady, Laurie Turner, Dixon Turner and Baby Boy Turner, yet to be born. She is also survived by her sister, Leona Oakley, as well as neerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by her sisters, Bellzora Burwell and Candace Young; her brothers, Bob Huff, B.D. Huff, Jr., Yates Huff, Sr., Henry Taylor Huff; and granddaughter, Carlotta Pope Fryar. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Duke Hospice. Their dedication aneeffort to provide quality care for the past year was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. The family would also like to say a special thank you to Ida Bass and Stephanie Timberlake for their loving care and support. A funeral service honoring Mildred will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 4:00 p.m., Trinity Uneed Methodist Church, Oxford, North Carolina. Visitation will be at 3:30 p.m., prior to service. Reverends Lori Cox and Jack Ruth will officiate. In honor of Mildred, memorial contributions canee made to Trinity Uneed Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, C/O Tommy Huff 5507 Culbreth Road, Oxford, NC 27565. The Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
