Melvin Foster Boyd

OXFORD: Melvin "Foster Boyd, age 56 died Saturday, October 11, 2014. A native of Granville County, he was the son of Melvin Lee Boyd and the late Mildred Finch Boyd. Foster was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Youth Leader. He was a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served for 20 years. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Granville County Rescue Squad and a 1976 graduate of J. F. Webb High School. Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Oxford Presbyterian Church by Reverend Alan Koneke. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm, prior to the service, in the fellowship hall of the church. Surviving is his wife, Jane Lancaster Boyd; a son, Michael S. Boyd of Oxford; a daughter, Jessica Renee' Boyd (Joseph) of Oxford; a brother, Wade R. Boyd (Barbara) of Goldston; a sister, Cinderella B. Lyon (Laurie) of Sanford; his beloved granddaughter, Adalyn Grace Bowen; and aunts, Carolyn Moss of Oxford and Shirley Paine.
