Mary Regina Arena Roseman

April 23, 1918 — April 9, 2008

Mary Regina Arena Roseman, age 89, a resident of Croasdaile Village Friendship Hall, died Wednesday evening, April 9, 2008 at Duke Medical Center. A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mrs. Rosemaneeturned to Durham four years ago from Baltimore, MD. She was born in Clarksburg, WV to the late Anthony M. and Rose Santo Arena on April 23, 1918. Mrs. Roseman moved to Durham in the 1930's and worked at Camp Butner during World War II where she met her husband, Louis. Together they moved to Baltimore following the War and Mrs. Rosemaneegan working for the Research & Development Command for the U.S. Air Force. When the USAF R&D Command moved to Florida, she began working for an orthopedic practice where she retired at the age of 73. Known for her elegant style and wonderful sense of humor, Mrs. Roseman enjoyed people from all walks of life. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Robert A. Arena, James E. Arena LuRuth, Roseann Arena Green husband, Oscar, deceased; Jay M. Arena, Jr., Harry Wood, Mary Margaret Arena Beeching Robert, Katherine Arena Prosser husband, Art, deceased; Pauline Arena Myers William; Regina "Jeanee" Arena Smith Needham; Angelo Petitto, Jr., James Petitto Carol; Rose Virginia Petitto Marshall George; many great nieces and nephews: James E. Arena, Jr., Paul A. Arena, Pryor Green, Jay Green, Bernie Kandrac, Nathan Wood, Kate Wood-Bryan, Kemp Anderson, Anthony Anderson, Karen Prosser Cain, Kristin Myers Bissette, Scott Myers, Megan Smith, Matthew Smith, Michael Petitto, Bryaneetitto, Julie Marshall Harris, Jeffrey Marshall, Amy Marshall Roberts and several great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Roseman was preceded ineeath by her husband, Louis Roseman; her siblings: Pat Arena Mildred, Jay M. Arena Pauline Monteith, Teresa Louise Arena, Carolyn Arena Petitto Angelo; nieces, Mary Jo Arena and Carolyn Arena Wood. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 9:00 A.M. Saturday, April 12, 2008 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Steve Patti, OFM, presiding. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. No visitation is planned.
