Mary Estelle Robbins of Columbia, NC died peacefully in Franklinton on Monday, March 9, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Mary was born in Edgecombe County on April 20, 1922 to the late James O. and Mary Elizabeth Jones. A member of Union View Baptist Church for many years, Mary had retired from Robbins Grill where she worked with her late husband, Larry, for more than 25 years. Mary is survived by her three children: Judy Blackley and husband, Billy; David Robbins, Sr. and wife, Gail; and Jerry Robbins, all of Franklinton; her brothers: James "Bud" Jones, Jr. of Elm City, NC; Ray Jones and wife, Patsy, of Nashville, NC; her sisters: Inez Walker of DeRidder, LA; Eva Holliday and husband, Tom, of Bear Grass, NC; Gladys Leonard and husband, Charlie, of Kinston, NC; Ginger Collie and husband, Earl, also of Kinston; and sister-in-law, Barbara Jones of Nashville, NC; grandchildren: David Robbins, Jr. and Chris Robbins of Franklinton; and Wendy Robbins and husband, Lance, of Youngsville, NC; and many other extended family members. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Larry Robbins, who died in 2004; her brother, Henry Allen Jones; and her sisters: Margie Orea Jones and Shelby Jean Jones. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel, formerly Franklin Funeral Service, 504 E. Mason St., Franklinton. The Reverend Carl Hunter will preside and burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday evening, March 8, from 7:00-9:00 PM in the funeral home.
